Land Acknowledgement
KCM First Aid Services, in solidarity with the Canadian Red Cross, would like to respectfully acknowledge that the land that we gather on is the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Mi'kmaq people. This territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which Wolastoqiyik and Mi'kmaq peoples first signed with the British crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources, but in fact recognized Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik title and established rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
We, our staff and ownership, wish to offer respect to the elders and descendants of this land. We appreciate the knowledge keepers and look to their guidance as we strive for collective healing and a better relationship with the indigenous peoples of New Brunswick.
